These are interesting times we live in now aren’t they? So much division, do much brokenness, so much hatred and anger.
The Bible is pretty clear on how we as Christians should live. We should seek unity and humility. When we go against these two things, I believe brokenness starts to take place.
Philippians 2:3-4 – Let nothing be done out of strife or conceit, but in humility let each esteem the other better than himself. Let each of you look not only to your own interests, but also to the interest of others.What would our marriages look like if we started to “not only look at our own interests, but to the interest of others”?
What would our families, neighborhoods, schools, our church look like if we not only believed this verse but lived it out? I think we’d show people what true Christian living is all about.
I think maybe why our county is so unchurched and unsaved is because we’re really not showing them anything different or appealing in our Christianity. If they talk to us, work with us, play with us, interact and do life with us, do they see anything different than anyone else?
A good idea once in a while is to do a “Fruit of the Spirit” gut check in your life.
Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Does our daily lives represent good fruit? When you are with your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors, what do they see?

Love or anger?
Joy or frustration?
Peace or worry?
Patience or impatience?
Kindness or quick tempered?
Goodness or mean spirited?
Faithfulness or easily swayed?
Gentleness or aggression?
Self-control or live for the now?

I think the left side of those statements is not the norm for most people, but we are not most people. We are called to not be of the world. I think a lot of the world lives on the right side of these. Let’s show them something different.
