Matthew 7:24: “Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
I was sitting in a prayer meeting this morning and someone in our circle was praying to have us take just one truth in the Bible and apply it this week.
This got me thinking about putting into practice what we know, have learned or will learn.
We can get so busy, so distracted, that we actually become consumers and not contributors. We read and become head smart, but there is no action behind the knowledge.
James 1:22 actually says that receiving or reflecting on God’s Word is useless if we don’t put it into practice. We must become doers of the word.
Like we talked about on Sunday, Satan doesn’t care if we attend church, read our Bible, or become convicted by what we are learning. What he does care about is our action. It’s the action behind the conviction that makes Satan tremble, and allows us to make a difference in Jesus’ name.
So a challenge this week. Take a piece of scripture and act on it. Write out an action step as a result of your reading and studying of God’s Word. Ask God to show you areas that He is waiting for you to move, to trust…to act, then make that move from hearer to doer.
