I remember when I was growing up in our neighborhood. There was about 5 or 6 guys that all hung out daily. We’d play football, have sleepovers, play video games, jumped our bikes over homemade ramps, get injured, do it again. It was a great time growing up.
There was this one time where it was the morning after a sleepover, and we were all out on our friends deck (second level) hanging out while breakfast was being made. My brother, who was younger, started talking about something, which I don’t remember what it was about, but I remember he was wrong. As brothers do, we’d argue, and as friends would do, they would urge us to continue to argue and fight. I don’t really remember what happened exactly, but I know that my brother went from the deck to the grass below. He said I pushed him, I believe he “slipped”. Either way, he got up and rushed home yelling “I’m going to tell dad!”
I had anxiety that morning. I knew that trouble was about to come my way, which it did, but just like every other time before that, I got through it. It didn’t last forever, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. This, just like any trial, it comes and then it passes.
Philippians 4:6 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God.
Key words here…”Do not be anxious about anything…” Not easy, is it?
The storms of life are not easy to go through. The unknowing of what will happen can really add a lot of stress and worry to our life, if we let it.
If you are currently going through a trial, let me ask you this? Has God gotten you through your past trials? Has He been faithful in the past? If so, then don’t you believe He will do it again now?
Part of our journey as believers is to trust God when we don’t have answers and when we lack understanding.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
When its winter time, when it’s bitterly cold, the ice is on the roads and it just doesn’t look like we’ll ever get good weather again, springtime is always around the corner. I’ve seen it time and time again so much that I now trust that winter will soon turn to spring.
Are you in winter now? Trust that spring is just around the corner. He has done it in the past, and He will do it again now.
